Well it’s official – I can now call you Charlotte Grace Grimm and you entered this world a week early on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 8:26 PM. You weighed exactly 6 lbs and measured 20 inches long. You are beautiful (and most babies aren’t beautiful) and healthy and strong 🙂 Mommy and Daddy are so in love with you, and everybody can’t wait to finally meet you. You decided to come a week early which I really didn’t think was going to happen, and thank god you decided to wait until Daddy got home from Vermont to make your first appearance – he was literally home a few hours before I started having early contractions. Daddy and I had dinner that night and then we got ready for bed – and shortly after I started having contractions but figured they were false labor pains…not the real thing. After a few hours and restlessness I took a shower and managed to go back to bed for a few hours. In the morning I was planning to head to work but the contractions were still coming off and on so I decided to go to the doctor just to be safe….although I had a feeling they weren’t real….in complete denial that you were on your way! Sure enough the doctor confirmed that labor had begun and I was dialeted 1cm. Daddy and I decided to go home for a bit but the doctor informed us that we would be at the hospital later that night to deliver. We went and got a pedicure, got some lunch, walked the dogs, and layed down for a bit before the contractions started getting more intense. Daddy thought it would be best to head to the hospital, so we did, with my bags in tow! After checking in at Valley Hospital around 2:30 PM – I was told that I was 4cm along, and not 6 hours later you were in my arms 🙂 I will leave the labor story to tell you when you get older – but overall, you were a easy delivery for a first time baby so I thank you. Words could not describe the happiness and joy I felt holding you in my arms for the first time. I wanted to eat you up and kiss you for hours….finally a mom and having a family to share special moments with. Since your birth we have been adjusting to home life and getting settled in a routine…somewhat of a routine. Overall, you are a good baby – don’t cry or fuss too much, but we are struggling with the breastfeeding – you don’t like to cooperate and latch on but I know with time you will do great – we have to work on it together – you and me! Everyone loves your name and your Uncle Pete has given you the nickname of “Chicken Biscuit” not very attractive, but feels that you are from the south based on your name. We will come up with a better nickname…I promise! Every day you get bigger and stronger, and you look so different now then you do last week. I savor each moment together as everyone tells me you will grow up so quickly. I love you Charlotte Grace and I’m so happy we survived the last 9 months together and I look forward to our next journey together as mom and daughter 🙂 I leave you with some pictures of your first weeks, love you baby girl xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Week #38

Baby G you are at the 38 week mark and the size of a pumpkin- just in time for Halloween! And Daddy keeps hoping that you are a Halloween Baby 🙂 The past two doctors appointments have went very well – you are head down which is great news and last week you weighed about 5lbs 14 oz so you shouldn’t be terribly huge at birth but they say this is the time when you gain the most weight. The doctor did assure us again that you will be tall – your femur bone is long! Which makes your daddy very nervous LOL! We have had a busy couple weeks. Your nursery is just about complete – Mommy has been busy washing all of your clothes that are finally folded and put away in drawers. Your carseat is all secure in my car, your stroller is ready to go in the garage, and all of your furniture has arrived! Also, I was lucky enough to have had another baby shower at work – everyone in the office can’t wait to meet you – you are already spoiled rotten 🙂 Daddy is going to be in Vermont this week for week, but this is his last trip until your due date and when he gets back on Sunday he is on lock down! No more traveling until your arrival, although I think you are going to be late – please don’t prove me wrong. Mommy has two more weeks at work and then I will be home just in time for your due date – in the meantime, we are all anxiously waiting your arrival – Daddy, Family, Friends…and of course me 🙂 I can’t wait to meet your little face and give you kisses. Continue to get strong and big, we love you Baby G xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoo
Week #36

Baby G we are finally to the home stretch, the 9th and final month! It’s hard to believe because it feels like yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with you. The past 9 months have been an incredible journey watching you grow inside of me. At 36 weeks you are now the size of a Honeydew. You are getting closer and closer to being able to breathe on your own. Your skin is getting smooth and soft and your gums are rigid. They say your liver and kidneys are in working order, and your circulation and immune systems are basically good to go too.
On Saturday, we attended our first Lamaze class at Valley and needless to say Daddy is getting a little freaked out. The class outlined what we can expect during labor -contractions, water breaking, labor positions, and cutting the cord. Daddy’s still not sure if he’s going to be able to cut the cord when you are born – I think he’s scared that he is going to hurt you even though he won’t – so don’t hold it against him if he doesn’t follow through. Your nursery furniture is being delivered on Friday which is great news, everything is finally coming together. I want to be as prepared as possible for your arrival and my checklist is getting a little smaller each week. All of your clothing is washed and folded – everything is so tiny and cute 🙂 Your bassinet is assembled, diaper genie is ready to go, and your swing is up and running.
Mommy is getting bigger and starting to feel more and more uncomfortable. I am starting to waddle like a penguin which is not very pretty but all worth it. As we approach October 26, words can’t describe all of the emotions I’m feeling – excited, nervous, anxious, and happy. Not to mention, your Daddy has been working on a new project in Vermont so he has been traveling every week, in hopes to get the work done before you are born. I pray every day that you hold out until your due date because I certainly don’t want to call your daddy while he’s in Vermont to let him know that I am in labor. So please stay toasty and warm just where you are until he is home for good!
We have a doctor’s appointment early tomorrow morning to check your growth and heartbeat so we should get to bed. I can’t wait to finally meet you and hold you in my arms 🙂 I love you Baby G, continue to stay strong and get big….just a little bigger though we are running out of room xoxoxoxoxoxo
Week #34

We are at 34 weeks today and Baby G you are as big as a Butternut Squash! You are recognizing and reacting to simple songs that I play through the Belly Buds and appparently you are peeing 🙂 Isn’t that delightful! Mommy has been busy narrowing down our list of things for your arrival. Still a lot of stuff to get for you but we have plenty of time. Mommy is feeling pretty good for the most part – a little tired but still going to work everyday. And Mommy can’t stop peeing either – we should have invested in Charmin stock because I must go through a roll a day.
The last two weeks have been very busy for Mommy – I have been training your new brother to be – Tyson – to be a good boy. Layla and him are playing very nice together and I know that you are going to love them both. Tyson is keeping Mommy active and on her toes – no time to rest 🙂 Everyone thinks we are crazy to have added a new puppy to the family along with a baby but I think you will be best buds for life.
We love you Baby G – continue to get strong and we can’t wait to meet you xoxoxoxoxxoxoxo
Week #32

Baby G we are 32 weeks, officially the 8th month and you are the size of a squash. We had your baby shower this weekend in Baltimore and it was perfect! The theme was Build a Library – we received so many books to read to you as a child. They include The Giving Tree, Charlotte’s Web, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Where the Wild Things Are and The Very Hungry Catepiliar – we are going to be busy 🙂 Everyone was at the shower including all of your 5 aunts to be, your Nanna and Great Grandpa. Everyone had fun – your Aunt Patrice and Daddy planned the perfect day with lots of food, including steamed crabs, and lots of laughs. While down in Baltimore for the weekend we also picked up another gift – a new puppy named Tyson. Tyson is a Boxer and is 11 weeks old – may not be the smartest decision but I think you are going to love him and become best buds! Your nursery is all painted and ready to move the furniture in as soon as it is delivered in the next week or two – it’s finally coming together. Mommy and Daddy went on the hospital tour last week at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. The nurses and staff are all very nice and helpful – only two more months until we visit for a couple of days 🙂

Baby G you are now 31 weeks old and the size of a pineapple! We are getting so close – you are really moving around a lot and like to kick, especially in my rib cage 🙂 But it’s all worth it. We are heading to Baltimore this weekend for our baby shower – you are so loved and everyone can’t wait to meet you. We have another big surprise – we are picking up Tyson your new furry brother. Tyson is a boxer puppy and is 10 weeks old. We wanted to get him acclimated and house trained before your arrival, I hope that you will be best buds. Mommy went to the doctor last week and they said you were perfect. Your heart rate is normal and you are growing a little bigger each week. Mommy and Daddy went to breasfeeding class last weekend – I hope we make a good team because I want you to be healthy and strong. We also have the hospital tour this week – you will be born at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Your room is going to be painted this week and your furniture has started to arrive – it is all coming together. We love you and pray that you continue to get big and strong. Love you Baby G xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Week #29

Baby G we have finally made it to the third trimester!
Week #27
Posted on July 27, 2014 Leave a Comment
Baby G you are now 27 weeks old and we are almost through the second trimester! This week you are the size of Rutabaga – no clue how big that is because I don’t eat them. This week you are practicing inhaling and exhaling with your rapidly developing lungs. You are also starting to show brain activity! You are certainly very active and moving around a lot, you like to keep Mommy up at night with your kicking 🙂 We had a doctor’s appointment this past week and they said you look perfect – size and heartbeat.
Mommy and Daddy are still busy planning your nursery – we met with a couple painters this week to paint your room pink. In the next few weeks we will begin moving furniture around in the house to prepare for your arrival. Last week we bought your carseat, your bathtub and some cute baby clothes. We are also starting to narrow down names – but I think at this point I have a pretty good idea what we are going to call you 🙂
Mommy is starting to get big and my tummy is round. I have serious baby brain and have been very forgetful and it’s hard for me to stay focused at work. You are sucking all of the brain activity out of me, but that’s okay I don’t mind 🙂 Only three more months until your arrival, we are very excited yet nervous at the same time. Continue to get strong and stay healthy Baby G! We love you xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Week #24

Baby G we are at Week #24 and you are the size of a cantaloupe! Your skin has become more pink and opaque, and you are looking more and more like a baby.
After a couple weeks of viewing every baby furniture option under the sun, we finally made a decision and ordered your nursery furniture yesterday. I hope you love it and we are very excited to begin decorating your room. I feel like we are in full swing with getting the house ready for your arrival – nursery, playroom, stroller, carseat and of course all the cute clothes. Mommy is also starting to review the best pediatricians for you so you have the best healthcare possible.
You are starting to move around a lot more this week- especailly at night 🙂 Daddy was able to feel you kick for the first time last time. You are getting bigger and stronger each week and the doctor says your heart is healthy and you are going to be tall – long spine and fingers – maybe playing the piano or basketball is in your future.
Today marks the end of the 4th of July weekend. I am going to head to the pool to get some sun and relax with you, while Daddy goes grocery shopping for our BBQ tonight. Keep getting strong Baby G and we love you very much xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
